About
Hi, I’m Madeline – the maker, dreamer, and soy wax spiller behind Mad Candle Co.
Growing up, I was always finding creative ways to make money—selling hand-drawn bookmarks, running lemonade stands, or doing chores for the neighbors. My family even nicknamed me Money Bags Maddie, and looking back, it’s clear the entrepreneurial spirit was always in me.
In 2018, while juggling a stressful restaurant job during college, I started making candles as a way to unwind and give more meaningful holiday gifts. I couldn’t find clean, high-quality soy candles that felt like “me,” so I decided to make them myself. What started as a creative escape quickly became a passion—and eventually, something much bigger. Fast forward to May 2024, I took a leap of faith and launched Mad Candle Co. In the first six months alone, I sold over 4,500 candles—proof that sometimes, your side hobby is the thing you were meant to do all along.
My mission is simple: To create candles that look beautiful, smell amazing, and are safe for your home. Every Mad Candle is hand-poured using 100% soy wax, phthalate-free fragrance oils, and eco-friendly materials. They're clean-burning, thoughtfully crafted, and safe for your family, pets, and the planet.
My best-selling scent, Oregon Forest, was inspired by the magical evergreens just outside my studio window in Eugene, Oregon. To me, scent is storytelling—and with every candle I make, I’m trying to bottle up a memory, a place, or a feeling and share it with you.
Every candle you see is made in my cozy 10’x10’ home studio—built by my husband, who’s also my biggest cheerleader. I don't have a big team or fancy factory. It’s just me (and a little help from my grandma, who literally keeps travel tins in her car to hand out to strangers—yes, she’s the best). And my mom, a successful florist and business owner, was the one who pushed me to take my hobby seriously, even placing early wholesale orders to help get me off the ground.
I want you to know that every time you buy a candle from me, you’re not just supporting a small business. You’re supporting late nights, early mornings, hand-packed boxes, and dreams that refused to die. You’re supporting a woman who took a risk, chased a passion, and built something from the ground up. Thank you for supporting my dream. I’m just getting started, and I’m excited for everything still to come.
With love,
Madeline
